So far, so good with my meals in Italy. I have had no issues at all but I do make my needs clear in advance and everyone – restaurants and family – have been very accommodating. I am very glad I have no problems with lactose though – all those delicious ice creams. However, I do have to go easy because of the sugar content. I am also able to eat a certain amount of wheat but not every day or the constipation starts to play up.
Here are some photos to make you feel you are eating in Italy with me.
Glad you’re enjoying yourself! And that you’re finding appropriate things to eat. You must be having an amazing time! Thanks for the update.
Casa Raia was amazing for the environment and spending the time with my sister and family and now Rimini is good because we are with Adriano’s family.
I love the stone walls in the kitchen. It’s such a beautiful villa. I do love the look of that simple pasta – Italians can be so clever with so few ingredients. I’m glad the holiday is going well xx
The stone walls were so thick that the house was always cool even when the temperatures outside were on the 30s.
Italian food is all about using genuine ingredients with as few processed products as possible. I love to know what everything on my plate is and they do that well.
Hi Suzanne! Thank you so much for sharing some of your family vacation time and the wonderful photos you have taken to show us. Delicious to look at and so attractively displayed. Fantastic photography, Suzanne! Stay safe, Elizabeth.
You are welcome, Elizabeth. The food is very good and genuine here, which means no IBS issues as long as I am vigilant.
The photos look great. How did you manage the garlic issue?
I ask them to recommend foods with no onion or garlic. At first, they scratch their heads but then they always find a few things. In the smaller restaurants, asking the wait staff is safe enough because they are often family owned and she/he will know as much as the chef knows about the food. If it is a larger, more tourist-oriented restaurant, take a laminated card to hand them to take to the chef in their language with your main issues on it. For example, no gluten, no lactose, no garlic, no onions. I have had no issues yet.
