If you are in need of a little spice in your life, cook these patties for dinner tomorrow night. As soon as I saw them on the Flavors of Mumbai blog, I knew I had to cook them. They are a nice surprise for the family if they don’t see you preparing them because when they cut into what seems like a potato patties, they will find this delicious spicy pea mixture inside.
This is not a low Fodmap recipe.

Maria said in her recipe that you could mix the potato and pea mixture together but I loved the surprise of finding the spicy peas inside the potato.

Mmm, very appealing to the eye and reading-tasty on the palate! I make it a point to have 2-3 vegetarian main meals a week and thoroughly enjoy them: tomorrow it is stuffed eggplant [so beautiful this year here] day on a bed of couscous or I may attempt this actually: these blogs are taking me back to the occasional potato meal again: haven’t really eaten them for some thirty years.

30 years of not eating potatoes? Wow! How did you manage that? Your stuffed eggplant recipe on couscous (my husband’s favourite grain) sounds interesting.

Potatoes? With all the choices of grains, especially brown rice, Asian noodles and all the different beans, so delightful, I just haven’t felt like eating something with such a high GI index AND GI load!!! There are some ways of cooking them i quite like, but then cream or cheese or frying are oft involved 🙂 ! And they don’t too often t get into Asian, Middle Eastern and North African cuisines, which are the mainstays of my cooking 🙂 !

Aha, the GI index problem! I did think of that. In New Zealand when I was growing up, our dinners always had potatoes in some form or other. I guess it’s the Irish blood in our population and the fact that they grow easily here. I now only eat them a few times a month because, as you said, there are so many other grains to choose from.
I like the sound of your varied diet. You’ll have to send some recipes my way and I could look at making them.

What a great meal. Looks so good. We like to mix things up and have vegetarian meals at least once or twice a week.
admin says
We do too. Red meat once or twice, fish once and chicken once or twice. Just trying to cover all the bases.

Good to see you here, Michelle. I think maybe they would be not quite the thing for your 17 month old but your husband should love them.
