Here are a few photos of our Christmas day with nineteen family members, a whole lot of presents and a table groaning with food. We had a lovely time and even the rain held off for several hours. This is a special time of the year when all the family get together. My sisters and I have turns hosting Christmas and starting next year my older sister’s two grown children who have homes of their own will be joining the rotation. We all share the food cooking so the load is not too heavy and it seems to work well.

Looks absolutely beautiful, Suzanne. I love the table setting. We had about the same number of people. Those desserts look amazing xx

I imagine your table looked just as beautiful. I must check out your blog to see if you have photos too.

This is just beautiful. Love all of the clean whites and then the pops f cheery holiday reds! The Christmas pudding (?) looks so delicious. I love seeing Christmas around the world! Merry Christmas to all of your family.

Thanks, Sarah, it did look pretty. I had a quick peep at your Christmas photos yesterday but I want to go back and look more closely. They looked stunning.

Thanks for sharing your holiday photos! We had about half the number you had (at our house), so we did a sit down dinner (although we plated in the kitchen so we wouldn’t spend the first 15 minutes passing food around; of course we had food on the table for second helpings). It seems I’ve been eating nonstop the last few weeks, but looking at all of your terrific food you had I’m hungry again!

We would have had a sit down dinner if we had been outside but inside wasn’t set up for it. We usually do sit down but there is always the issue of passing food around so we do the same as you and use buffet-style for the actual filling the plates part and then we sit down. Works best that way.
As soon as New Year is over, it’s time to slow down on the eating, I think.

Thank you for sharing your family Yule party with its sumptious, groaning board with us: thoroughly enjoyed, especially by someone like me where numbers were smaller and food totally eclectic 🙂 ! Love the new look of your blog page: looking forward to clicking onto it heaps of times in 2013!

Eclectic food is good too and has the surprise factor going for it. Thanks, I am glad you like my new look and I love your visits here.

What a wonderful family gathering with fabulous food. Your photos could have been from a magazine…lovely.
Suzanne says
Thanks so much, Karen. What a lovely compliment.

Oh, wow. So much lovely food, and such a big family.
It intrigues me that people “down under” live in an alternative world where it’s summer right now. 🙂
Suzanne says
I know. It’s intriguing that the northern hemisphere is cold with snow falling in pockets while I am perspiring in the heat.

Wow Suzanne! Not only do the food look divine but it’s also summer in NZ! I feel like jumping on the next plane and live there until this winter finishes. You made such a beautiful spread of desserts and savory dishes. They really look delicious! I love the red swag that you put on the table. It made the table look very festive. It seems that you had a beautiful Christmas with your family! Wishing you the best this coming 2013.

Christmas this year was held at my sister’s home so that is her table decoration. We all helped make the food so most of what you see was not made by me but by other members of the family.
All the best to you for a great New year.
