Last week, I talked about the issues I was having in my Facebook group with many giving erroneous advice and becoming aggressive when corrected. I said that something had to change and I have made that change happen. I have dedicated a couple of hours a day to this free group for the last few years and I am happy to do that but I want it to be a group of people with IBS who are determined to get better and are willing to put the time in to improve their lives. I want to help people who work with me and not against me and are serious about their health and put it first. The Main Reason the Low Fodmap Diet is not Working
Lately, in my large (7,000+) low Fodmap Facebook group, there have been some loud, aggressive voices saying that the low Fodmap diet doesn’t work. They don’t say it doesn’t work for them – they state that it doesn’t work at all. Many other more positive souls have quietly said that it is working well for them, but negative voices are always the most ferocious and most dedicated to their cause so the positive is drowned out. We know the internet is a crazy place where people show the worst of their characters because they feel they are anonymous, but flying in the face of science is where it turns to lunacy. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have called sleep deprivation a public health crisis. According to a recent CDC study, more than a third of American adults are not getting enough sleep on a regular basis. It seems that the problem those on the low Fodmap diet have the most is how to pull together a meal plan that suits them. In my Facebook group, there are constant questions like this: What are some good breakfast choices? What are suitable snacks? What do you eat for lunch at the office? And so on...
