This is the splendid villa we are staying at in Tuscany near Montalcino. It was originally a farmhouse with the animals living in the stalls on the ground floor with the family living above. It is now fully restored and renovated into a 4 bedroom home with all the expected features of stone walls and brick floors.
The terrible temperatures of our first day here have disappeared to leave the days balmy and pleasant – thank goodness.
Last night we all (me, husband, son, sister, her husband and son) ate out at a good restaurant in the centre of Montalcino. I directly asked the owner/waiter what he could offer me while taking my Fodmap restrictions into a account and he brought me guinea fowl cooked in a lemon sauce with spinach. It was delicious. I have a client who is in Sardinia at the moment and she was struggling so I told her to ask the hotel about gluten-free food and they are now making her special gluten-free bread rolls on demand. It always pays to be direct and to explain your needs clearly. Since we are paying clients, we can expect our needs to be met and you would be surprised how accommodating most places are. There is really no need to take chances because the result is a couple of days of your holidays ruined. Stand up for yourself with confidence and no apologies and others will respect that.

You certainly booked yourself some stunning accommodation. The pool is gorgeous and I hope you’re having plenty of time relaxing around the pool. And I love the dining room table and how it’s been set for dinner – everything is gorgeous. And it’s wonderful you’ve been able to enjoy fantastic food that fits in with your dietary restrictions. It sounds like a perfect holiday xx

So far, it has been a perfect holiday though I am working at the same time. It’s so lovely to walk straight out the door into balmy temperatures and slip into the swimming pool for a few laps. Quite blissful.

It worked perfectly for our trip. Nobody asked for any snacks; they were responsible for their own bin, and that was all they got for the trip!

Glad to hear it, Joshua.
