We are leaving to return to New Zealand tomorrow morning and the trip will take a couple of days altogether. Meanwhile I wanted to leave you with one last taste of Italy while I was still here. I will do the lasagna post I promised you when I get back since it is a little more complex and will take a bit of time.
I am smacking myself now that I didn’t take more photos of food but the truth is that the food here tastes fantastic but doesn’t always look that incredible as far as photographing it is concerned. Anyway, here are a few shots with a surprise at the end.

Beautiful photos, I’m now officially hungry! Your sister-in-law’s fresh pasta is picture-perfect!
The pasta she and her mother makes is perfect.

Just cannot believe your trip is over already! Hope the flight home is not too tiring . . . And thanks you for the fun melange of photos: even a non-cake eater appreciates the look of these 🙂 !
Time flies so fast these days, Eha. I can’t believe it either. Yes, food that looks good can not be denied.

Those pastries look so delicious! Beautiful photos and have a safe trip back.
Thanks, Nik. I am responding to your comment in Vienna Airport so we are on our way home.

Italian food is just the best
It is one of the best cuisines in the world, in my opinion, Marion.

How lovely to dine on fresh, homemade pasta. I love the look of the gelato. I hope you have a good trip home. Two days of traveling can be very wearying! xx
Back home again and dog-tired. I will miss the Italian food.

Nice photos! Thanks for sharing a bit more of your trip with us. It is interesting how often great tasting food doesn’t photograph that well. Or rather, I should say you really need to spend some time figuring out how to get it to look good. Part of the fun – and frustration – of food blogging. 😉
You are right – it’s all about how we present the food. Even blah food can look good if we style it well.

European pastries just leave the rest of us swooning. The ceramic ones are so cute. I am trying to imagine how people use them in their homes. I can absolutely imagine little children having tea parties with them.!
Especially at those prices, Sarah. Not sure how one would use the ceramic desserts – I guess they are rather gimmicky however wll done they are.

I loved the ceramic cakes they look so real 🙂
They had me fooled at first, Maria. I wished they were real.
