Last night I had another dinner party for good friends. There were eight of us around the table and it was delightful to be with like-minded people where conversation is no effort. I completely forgot to take photos of us all together but, fortunately, I did photograph the dessert before they arrived or that too would have been lost. This is the same recipe as my Blueberry Sour Cream Tart but with strawberries since they are in season here. This is not a very sweet tart because I keep the sugar low but you could increase the amount. This time the tart cooked quicker than last time and only took about half an hour so do keep an eye on it. The filling sets quite quickly so, as long as you have pre-cooked the pastry, it might take even less than half an hour.
In other news, my neck specialist has given me some strong medicine for the headaches I get which are caused by stress and my neck problems. I have never really taken medicine apart from the occasional aspirin up until a month or so ago and now I am taking all sorts of things. I told her I had to work to pay for the medication that keeps me able to work. Quite a dilemma! Anyway, this medicine is called Rizamelt and it makes my extremities tingle, but it acts like magic and is the first painkiller which has been able to even touch my headaches. I looked it up this morning and apparently it only works on migraines so, despite fighting the thought, my headaches are now officially called migraines. And to think I had spent my life headache-free until I started office work 7 years ago. My doctor only gave me a prescription for 5 tablets and I have already had three because I have been getting daily headaches due to stress at work. I have never gone home because of a headache and always soldier on through like a martyr, but now I know they are migraines and that most people go home to bed with them, I am wondering what kind of twerp I am that I suffer in silence. At least I now have a solution – shame about the tingling.
Oh and, I put together the flowers in the bottom photo for my table centerpiece – kind of shabby chic.

Too bad about the migraines! I don’t suffer from them but know people who do, and they’re the worst. Anyway, lovely dish – very pretty and quite tasty looking. I almost never photograph food when we’re having company because it often just doesn’t seem convenient. I should probably get over that! Good post – thanks.

I never suffered from any sort of headache before doing office work so I feel very sorry for myself.
You are right that it isn’t convenient to take photograph when in company, especially if we are all having fun. But it is so good to see them afterwards.

It had to be a good evening if you didn’t take pictures 🙂 I am so sorry about your headaches/migraines. I don’t have it, but whenever I have a headache it’s very bad and I cannot do anything. Is there any chance to make your work less stressful? I know it’s not easy, if it was you’d already do something about it. Big hug and a lot of positive energy 🙂

Thanks, Marta. I wish I could make work less stressful but it isn’t always like this and is already easing off for the year. I will have a break soon and am looking forward to it.

I bet your dinner party was an overwhelming success. What pretty flowers! So beautifully arranged. I love flowers that cascade down from a vase. Your dessert is beautifully presented. So sorry to hear about your migraines. I don’t suffer from headaches but my brother in law has headaches every day of his life. He’s seen every specialist and had every available test but no one and nothing has been able to diagnose the cause. I hope yours can be relieved with more than just the medication xx

It was a great dinner party. I don’t arrange flowers very often so am never sure if it will work out. I was surprised at myself this time and pleased enough to photograph them.
Headaches every day of his life – that is hideous. Has he tried coca cola? It’s still my saviour and I have found others who say the same thing. It’s a little known secret.

This tart looks lovely! The filling with those pretty strawberries must be delicious. I’ve never had a migraine, and I can’t imagine what it must be like. I bet I wouldn’t be able to stay at work with the pain. Hope it gets better!

Thanks, Lisa. Now I know I actually have migraines I am wondering at my managing to stay at work with them while others go home. But there is no one else to do my work if I leave for the day. The stress is already easing off so hopefully they will disappear.

What a lovely tart for a dinner party, I adore strawberry desserts. Hope your headaches are resolved soon – I often get them myself and know just how unpleasant they can be!

I’m sorry you have some of the same issues I do. I remember you also had neck or back problems too from sitting at a computer. We are such silly billies to keep doing what hurts us.

That tart looks AWESOME!

Thanks, Jackie. It tastes awesome too.
